Monthly update: December 2005

Santa Baby at almost five months old
December is always a good month. The holidays are the one time of year that everyone seems to be just a little nicer to one another. All the festivities and gatherings with family and friends fill us with happiness and contentment. It's a time to rejoice and be thankful for all that you have and also a time to reflect about the upcoming new year. I thought that perhaps we might feel sad this Christmas because we didn't have Quentin home yet. Thinking back to the previous Christmas, I remember naively telling myself as I sent our photo album and paperwork to Taiwan that surely we'd have him way before the next holiday season. So when this December came and there was no indication that we'd be bringing him home, I expected the 25th to be a depressing day. But it really wasn't. Of course, we would've loved to have a new baby with whom to share the magic of Christmas, but we still had a wonderful time with our families. Brian and I even took a little "last hoo-rah" trip to Disneyland. It was so good to spend that time together. It reminded me why we love each other so much and made me look forward to what wonderful things lie ahead for us in the new year. We kept commenting on how fun it would be to make it a tradition to bring Quentin to Disneyland each year around this time. Anyway, the holidays were good but we can't wait to see what next year is like! Quentin will be around 17 months old by then-- maybe walking, hopefully talking a little-- what a wonderful and special age and how fun it should be to celebrate Christmas with him :)

As for the December update, not too many pictures this time. In fact, only the irresistible Santa-hat picture below came from the orphanage. Luckily, another family on my newsgroup traveled and was kind enough to get a handful of really recent pictures for us (check them out at
www.quentintsui.shutterfly.com). But in spite not getting too many pictures this month, it was the best update ever. This is because, WE GOT TRAVEL DATES!!!!!! See the next post for details.

Here are the stats on our little chunky monkey for December:

12/7
*Weight: 8.4 kg (18.52 lbs)
*Height: 67 cm (26.38 inches)
*Developmental milestone: "Transfers objects from hand to hand"
